This exquisite, chess board was made from American hardwood lumber that is certified eco friendly by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). The unique design features individually mitered squares measuring 2 x 2 inches that are raised, yielding a delightful playing surface. Important to the integrity of the board, the playing surface is solid maple and walnut wood and the entire board is wrapped in a frame of solid walnut wood approximately 2 inches wide and 1.25 inches thick. Corners are mitered. This is a truly special chess board that will be a family treasure for generations.
